Mark Fenech is a shareholder and sits on the Board of Directors of the Fenlex Group of Companies. He is also a Consultant at Fenech & Fenech Advocates, heading the firm’s Ship Finance department and is a member of the Ship Registration and Corporate Law department. Since 1996, he has practiced in the area of ship finance and has gained considerable experience in advising various international banks as lenders in different transactions involving the registration of security over Malta-flag vessels and over other assets. He has also advised Maltese and non-Maltese shipping companies in their capacity as mortgagors and has also given general and specific advice and issued legal opinions on security documents governed by Maltese Law involving, inter alia, the registration of Maltese mortgages and the execution of share and account pledge agreements. He has vast experience on the Maltese law aspects in relation to security documentation connected with financings granted by major international Banks to Maltese and international corporate borrowers, leading up to the legal registration of security against the respective Malta flag vessels. He is ranked and recommended in a number of peer-to-peer publications including Legal 500 and Chambers Europe.
