A foundation is an organisation constituted in writing by a founder or founders. It is set up either for the fulfilment of a specified purpose, or for the benefit of a named person or class of persons. It has its own patrimony appropriated to a specified purpose, with legal personality granted by law to an organisation which is established for a lawful purpose stated in writing. Its assets and liabilities are kept distinct from that of founders, administrators, and beneficiaries. The foundation acts through the Board of Administrators which holds legal representation.
